May 2019, Jamaica, NY -- The Southeast Queens Artist Alliance (SEQAA) returns this year with its follow-up to last year’s (C)Art Festival -- Art Like Air & Water (ALAW) -- a mobile museum and zine library! On June 1st and 2nd at the Jamaica Colosseum/165th street Mall from 11am-3pm, SEQAA will present our own handcrafted cart to the public along with publications made by local artists and community members! During the launch, visitors will have the opportunity to create their own zines and participate in various interactive activities such as bookbinding, writing, collage, letter stamp art and drawing/coloring.

 

In collaboration with the ALAW mobile library and museum, the Central Queens Public Library is showcasing a selection of artist’s books from members of the alliance. The Art Like Air & Water exhibit will be on view until June 30th. Attendees at launch will have a chance to visit the library during the launch to see the works of Rejin Leys, Sherese Francis, Jacqueline Herranz, Natali Barbee-Bravo, Elizabeth Velazquez, Margaret Vendryes, Lisa Wade, Shenna Vaughn and Ify Chiejina.
