A collective of visual artists, curators, educators, historians, and writers that has worked together since 2017.

 

Our mission is to produce, present, and advocate for enriching arts and cultural experiences in Southeast Queens, surrounding areas, and neighboring boroughs. Our initiatives include exhibitions, workshops, community engagement events, and interactive public art projects. We aim to cultivate a supportive network and provide resources for creatives in Southeast Queens.

 

The collective is guided by a steering committee of 11 dedicated members who make collective decisions and volunteer part-time to uphold the mission. While we operate similarly to a small organization, we are not an LLC and are supported through fiscal sponsorship.

All programming is offered free to our community and is financed through donations and grants. Since 2018, we have consistently received local grants and in-kind support to sustain our efforts. One of our key initiatives is the Mobile Museum & Zine Cart, featuring over 100 zines, all created by NYC-based artists. These zines cover a range of topics, from art and poetry to politics, DIY/how-to’s, and informational guides, reflecting the stories and issues important to NYC residents.

 

In 2024, we received the Howard Gilman Foundation's GO Queens Grant. This grant aims to digitize the cart's ephemera and catalog all the zines available, making it more accessible and extending its reach to users in NYC and beyond.

 

Through our ongoing partnership with CUNY, York College, and other neighborhood organizations, we will continue to offer high-quality, free art programming and support to the creative community in Southeast Queens. We also look forward to cultivating relationships and collaborations with organizations in neighboring boroughs.
